Gosport
Situated in the South West of Portsmouth Harbour, Gosport is a densely populated centre for yachting. There are numerous moorings and marinas available and as a marine surveyor we can often be found at any one of the following Gosport locations:
Hornet Services Sailing Club is leased from the MOD and some restrictions do apply to membership. The 230 berth marina is close to the Solent, has deep water and many on site services including hoist.
Haslar Marina is the first marina that visitors by sea will find.
Its a modern, 585 berth marina. The now famous green Haslar lighthouse marks the South Eastern corner as you approach.
With no significant land space, hoists can be conducted using the hydraulic Sealift. The Sealift is capable of lifting up to 65 feet LOA and 50 Tonnes displacement.
Endeavour Quay is just around the corner from Haslar Marina. With a 180 tonne hoist and 30m long lifting dock, she is one of the favourites for ocean racing maxi yachts.
Gosport Marina is a Premier marina offering a range of facilities including hoist and dry stack.
Gosport Boatyard has always been a favourite for a lunchtime hoist for a marine survey. Being privately owned the workforce are usually helpful and accommodating.
Royal Clarence Marina is the last of the larger berthing areas alongside in Gosport. It has a marina village feel to it, with apartments right next to the moorings. No haul out facilities usually means a trip around the corner to Gosport Boatyard for a lunch time hoist.
Port Solent is to the North of Gosport in Portsmouth harbour. It is another marina that as marine surveyors we regularly attend, with many facilities including Goodacre Boat Repairs (GBR) for GRP repairs.
Based in the Solent area Solent Marine Surveys regularly conducts surveys along the South Coast including Gosport, Lymington, Southampton, Hamble, Cowes, Port Solent, Portsmouth and Chichester. We are happy to travel throughout the UK.
