Lymington boating facilities
Solent Marine Surveys is regularly in Lymington conducting marine surveys and even more so since taking over from well-known Lymington based surveyor Tony Staton-Bevan of Abbey Yachts on his retirement.
Sailing up the Lymington River from the Solent, Lymington Yacht Haven is the first marina you come to. It offers 500 dredged berths and extensive marina facilities including a 50-tonne hoist.
The Ancasta team of brokers in Lymington, headed up John Wooldridge, is based in the Yacht Haven.
Further on up river, with a 75-tonne capacity hoist, Berthon Boatyard offers Lymington’s highest capacity boat hoisting service. Berthon Boatyard and Brokerage are often associated purely with larger craft, both power and sail, however, we have conducted marine surveys on yachts and motorboats from 28ft LOA upwards here.
Sue Grant and her expert team, together with the Berthon Boatyard, is able to cater for most boat owners’ requirements from simple winterisation or valeting, through to the most elaborate of boat refurbishment projects. We have had the pleasure of working with the Berthon team many times on various marine surveys and inspections.
Lymington is home to the Swedish powerboat importers Nimbus UK, and sailing yacht importers Malo Yachts UK, run by Dan Mills. Both the Nimbus and Malo range are a real treat for a Marine Surveyor as the build quality of these Scandinavian marques is second to none.
The two yacht clubs, Lymington Town Sailing Club, and the Royal Lymington Yacht Club also offer many facilities from scrubbing grids to alongside mooring and others. The Lymington Town Quay adjacent to the Ship Inn is also an area where boats can be dried for a marine survey.
