The vessel was EU VAT paid and as the new owners were looking to keep her in the Baltic on the North East German coast this was an ideal scenario for them.
As with most Hallberg-Rassy yachts she was built to a high standard and had been generally well maintained. A few issues did show themselves on the sea trial and a remedial work schedule was provided within the written survey report for the new owners.
One interesting question arose as to which country register the new owner should have the vessel registered to.
Solent Marine Surveys can offer tonnage certification for red flag states, including the Channel Isles. In this case it was a question of deciding whether to maintain the German registry or re-register on a Channel Isles one.
