When the console of my new Salcombe Flyer came away from the deck a few months after delivery, Guy examined the boat and reported on the reasons for its failure. Guy’s report was very detailed and professional, and showed clearly that there were problems with how the boat had been constructed, with the builder failing to use either adhesive or screws to fix the console. When the builder, Pembrokeshire Sports Boats, refused to pay the costs of my repairs I took Court action to recover these. Guy’s report formed part of the evidence I used to win my case. Play d’eau, our Fleming 55 trawler yacht, had broken out in hundreds of small blisters from the waterline to the top horizontal surfaces of the pilot house roof and seating. Guy of Solent Marine Surveys took control, analysed the cause and the remedy, and worked with a GRP Repair specialist firm in Southampton. As work progressed, additional issues were found below the waterline. Voids and pin prick holes were found in the hull requiring a full peeling and re-build. Guy was simply superb. Conscientious and meticulous. I’d recommend him to anyone, anywhere. You won’t be disappointed.
